i am an Expert on Matters Co-operatives
Who am i?
Let us get to know each other a little better...
Hey, i am wairimu mwangi,
I am a Co-operative Officer, researcher, trainer, strategist, and a passionate believer in the power of people coming together.
I currently serve in the Department of Co-operative Development, Murang’a County, where my work revolves around strengthening co-operatives, building leadership capacity, nurturing governance structures, and helping communities grow through the co-operative model.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics and I’m currently completing my Master’s thesis in Co-operative Management, a journey that has deepened my love for organizational development, member empowerment, and sustainable co-operative growth.
I believe the co-operative movement is one of the most powerful tools we have for transforming lives in Kenya. When people unite, share ideas, and work with integrity, they create possibilities far greater than anything they could achieve alone.
This blog is where I share insights, stories, and lessons from the field, to inspire better leadership, stronger Co-operatives, empowered youths, and a more vibrant co-operative sector.
Welcome to my world of co-operation, growth, and community development.
Let’s learn together. Let’s grow together.
For the past five years, I’ve dedicated my life to walking alongside hundreds of co-operative societies across Murang’a County. From early-morning meetings in coffee factories to long strategy sessions with SACCO boards, I’ve been privileged to witness firsthand the heartbeat of our co-operative movement, the passion, the resilience, the frustrations, and the small victories that keep communities going.
Along the way, I’ve also used my online platforms to create content that educates, inspires, and challenges how we think about co-operatives. My goal has always been simple: to amplify the co-operative voice and make sure the world sees the power of people coming together for a shared purpose.
At my core, I am an advocate for co-operative societies. I believe deeply, almost stubbornly, that co-operatives transform lives. They give ordinary people the ability to take charge of their financial and economic destinies. They build dignity, create opportunity, and strengthen community bonds in ways no other model can fully replicate.
This is not just work for me. It is a calling. A mission.
And I’m grateful to be part of it every single day.
Here is what my responsibilities have been...
